THE DEATH OF STEVE JOBS AT 56 AGE

STEVE JOBS of apple´s creator died totay at age 56. Pancreatic cancer is one of the most lethal tumors more difficult to identify and quickly spread. It is estimated that most patients do not survive more than six months after diagnosis. Steve Jobs, however, has managed to cope with the disease for seven years, since his tumor, originating in the endocrine glands, belonged to a rare variant and less aggressive pancreatic       cancer.

The founder of Apple was diagnosed more than seven years of a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor, whose median survival is much higher than the more common adenocarcinoma.

 

Five years later, in 2009, he detected the presence of liver metastases and underwent a transplant of the organ. As post-transplant immunosuppression must be put, that favors extending metastases in other organs where they had not seen, and that has died at the end.
